Rape

Rape, a serious crime, is the act of sexual intercourse without consent, which can involve beatings, physical restraint or the use of drugs.

After a rape assault the victim may have difficulty in concentrating or sleeping. Their emotions may include fear, anger, disbelief or even shame because of what has happened.

Remember:

A rape victim has no choice; their consent was never sought or considered. They cannot be blamed for what has happened.
A large number of victims are raped by someone they know and therefore initially felt at ease with.
The majority of rape assaults are carried out either at the victim’s or assailant’s home.
Status is not a factor, men/women of every age, class and background have experienced rape.

It takes strength and commitment to make a conscious decision to work through confused feelings that rape may have left you with, but we at NRICC will try and help you through the effects of rape:-
